How to Celebrate the Winter at Quebec’s Carnaval

Carnaval de Quebec or the Quebec Carnaval is the biggest winter carnival in the world. This family event takes between January and February and lasts for over 17 days. Guests are treated to parades, musical concerts, and other attractions. There are various hotels close to the fairgrounds so you can walk there to enjoy the shows. Here are a few things you can do at the Quebec winter carnival.

Explore the Historical Districts

Quebec City has a rich historical tapestry that dates back centuries. The old town is a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the few walled cities in continental America. Get to explore the ancient European architecture in a family-safe setting. You can even get a guide or join a tour group.

Visit the Ice Palace

Annually, the Ice Palace pops up anywhere in the great city of Quebec. It serves as Bonhomme’s (the festival’s mascot) official residence. So, you can visit during the day for a selfie opportunity with the mascot. You can also go inside the structure for a tour. Each night and during the weekends, the Ice Palace comes alive with musical performances and other forms of entertainment.

Ice Skate at Douville

Place D’Youville is an outdoor skating rink just 10 minutes from the fairgrounds. It’s a safe place to take the entire family for some fun on the ice. Please don’t forget to pack your skates when you come to the next Quebec Winter Festival.

Play Human Foosball

The fairgrounds have some of the quirkiest attractions you’ll ever see. Explore your childish side with activities, such as human foosball. Here you get to play foosball with real humans instead of dummies. The kids can also play on the mini slides, the indoor gaming zone, and other play structures. The attractions may change each year, but the whole family is guaranteed loads of fun.
